Planned short term respite care for children with disability and young people under 18 in our accessible Western Sydney home. We get to know your child’s routines, communication, interests and support needs. Together, we plan care for your child that respects their choices and helps them feel comfortable.

Exploring respite care options starts with what helps your child feel at home. Tell us about favourite activities, comfort items, food preferences and how your child asks for help or a break. We plan familiar routines and recreational activities in our accessible Western Sydney home. Children choose how they take part in ways that suit their age and communication. Families can ask questions and agree how updates will be shared. Our respite service is for children and young people under 18. Adult respite options are available by enquiry only.

Accessible support

The accessible home supports a range of mobility needs. ThriveAbility also has a wheelchair accessible vehicle that can carry a child or young person while they remain seated in their wheelchair as part of an agreed support service, subject to suitability and availability.

We plan familiar routines and activities with your child and keep you involved through agreed updates. If your child has an NDIS plan, we discuss funding arrangements before confirming a stay. NDIS funding is considered individually. For children under 18, the NDIA considers disability-related needs beyond those typical for their age and whether respite helps the family continue caring. Can the wheelchair accessible vehicle carry a child while seated in their chair?

Yes. ThriveAbility has a wheelchair accessible vehicle that can carry a child or young person while they remain seated in their wheelchair. It is used as part of an agreed support service and is not offered as a standalone taxi or transport service. Suitability and availability are discussed during planning.
